Privacy policy

BannedIn keeps as much as possible on your phone. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking.

What stays on your phone

Your scan history, the country you shop in and how many free scans you've used are stored only on your phone. We never receive them.

To remove them, clear your history in the app, or delete the app to remove everything.

The camera and your photos

BannedIn uses your camera to read barcodes and ingredient lists. Photos you choose are read on your phone too. Images are never uploaded or kept.

What goes to Open Food Facts

When you scan a barcode or search for a product, the barcode number or your search words are sent to Open Food Facts to look the product up. Nothing that identifies you is sent with them. Open Food Facts' own privacy policy covers those requests.

Subscriptions

Apple or Google take payment, so we never see your card details. Our subscription service, RevenueCat, keeps an anonymous ID and your purchase record so your subscription works and can be restored on a new phone.

What we don't do

We don't have accounts, show ads, use analytics or track you across other apps and websites, and we never sell data.

Children

BannedIn is made for parents and isn't directed at children under 13.

Who we are

BannedIn is run by Boostup International PTY LTD in Queensland, Australia.
